Firmware Update
There may be times when a camera requires a firmware update for optimal performance.
For this reason, we have included the steps below to help you verify if your unit has the most current firmware update available. We have also included the instructions on how to update the firmware if needed.
Please note: If your camera model is NOT listed below, your camera already has the most recent firmware update available and no firmware update is needed. (Please scroll down for M-series and Wingscapes firmware)
MICRO-SERIES (INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABOVE-LISTED UNITS)
- To see if your camera requires a firmware update, first remove SD Card. Press and hold the DOWN selector, Turn camera to “SETUP” (this is “IRAIM” for 2015 models). Once camera powers on, release DOWN selector & press “OK”. The first screen that flashes will be a 4 digit code that tells you the date of the firmware on the camera, the second screen will be the camera type. You read this date as the last number of the year, the month, and the day. For example: 6308 is March 8, 2016. You read this date as the last number of the year, the month, and the day. - If you do not have the most recent firmware installed, proceed with instructions below.
- Insert SD card into computer (using available slots or card reader adapter)
- Download the most recent firmware below. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded.
- Copy or Drag the .BIN file directly to your SD card. Before removing the SD card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
- Insert the SD card back into the camera. With power set to OFF, press and hold the “down” selector, as you hold it down, turn the power switch to “Setup”. For cameras made before 2016 please turn switch to 'IR Aim'.
- Once the unit powers up, release the down selector button, and press the “OK” button once to initiate firmware update. DO NOT PUSH ANY ADDITIONAL BUTTONS.
- System will reboot if the update is successful.
- A failure notification will appear if the update did not complete successfully.
- If the update failed, a “Fail” notification will appear. If update failed please repeat these steps.
Internet Explorer Browser: Right-click the link first, then select “Save Target As” to begin downloading.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari Browsers: Click the link to begin downloading.
Pro Tip:
There may be multiple firmware files for your model camera. If you see more than one link (separated by a “/”), please make sure to save both to your SD card when updating the firmware.
If you have tried to update your Firmware before and got a failed message, follow steps below:
*Most of the time the Firmware Update fails because its downloaded more than once and corrupts all the files.
- Go to your Downloads Folder
- Delete all the previous downloads
- Format your SD Card (Use your computer to Format the SD Card)
- Download the Bin File once! Save to your SD Card directly or slide to SD Card.

- To see if your camera requires a firmware update, turn the camera on to custom start. Use UP/DOWN to find System Options, and left/Right to find Upgrade Firmware. You’ll notice a text string there (Example: 6M888i-160330). The last part of this text is the date code of the firmware in the format of Year (YY)/Month(MM)/Day(DD). Check that date code against the date code of the latest firmware version provided here to determine if you need to upgrade or not.
- If you do not have the most recent firmware installed, proceed with the instructions below.
- Insert SD card into computer (using available slots or card reader adapter)
- Download the most recent firmware below. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded.
- Copy or Drag the .BIN file directly to your SD card. Before removing the SD card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
- Set the switch to “Custom Start” and use the up/down selectors to choose “System Options”
- Use left/right selectors to choose “Upgrade Firmware”
- Use the up/down selectors to choose “Yes” and press the “Ok” button
- The status will read “Upgrading”
- If the system reboots, the firmware upgrade is successful.
- A failure notification will appear if the update did not complete successfully.
- If the update failed, a “Fail” notification will appear. If the update failed please repeat these steps.
M900 SERIES (INCLUDES S-50I)
- To see if your camera requires a firmware update. Turn the camera on to custom start. Use the up/down selectors to choose “General Settings”, and press right to continue. Use the up/down selectors to choose “System Settings”, and press right to continue. Use up/down selectors to choose “Upgrade Firmware”, and press right to continue. You’ll notice a text string at the bottom of the screen (Example: M999iV2-151207). The last part of this text is the date code of the firmware in the format of Year (YY)/Month(MM)/Day(DD).
- Check that date code against the date code of the latest firmware version provided below to determine if you need to upgrade or not.
- If your camera requires an update, proceed with the following instructions.
- Insert SD card into computer (using available slots or card reader adapter)
- Download the most recent firmware below. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded.
- Copy or Drag the .BIN file directly to your SD card. Before removing the SD card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
- Turn the camera on to “Custom Start” and use the up/down selectors to choose “General Settings”, press right to continue
- Use the up/down selectors to choose “System Settings”, and press right to continue
- Use up/down selectors to choose “Upgrade Firmware”, and press right to continue
- Use the up/down selectors to choose “Yes” and press the “Ok” button
- The status will read “Upgrading” in the bottom right portion of the screen.
- If the system reboots, the firmware upgrade is successful.
- A failure notification will appear if the update did not complete successfully.
- If the update failed, a “Fail” notification will appear. If the update failed please repeat these steps.

The last part of this text is the date code of the firmware in the format of Year (YY)/Month(MM)/Day(DD). Check that date code against the date code of the latest firmware version provided below to determine if you need to upgrade or not.
